…about the first woman photojournalist in Colorado

Does it ever amaze you how quickly and painlessly we take pictures these days?

Not that long ago it took fragile glass plates, tons of chemicals, and patience and courage galore just to capture one single photograph.

I wrote about that painstaking process in From a Distance. And sometimes, when I’m snapping away with my phone, capturing pic after pic after pic with hardly a breath much less energy expended, I’m reminded of all that Elizabeth Westbrook (the heroine in the novel) went through to capture just one single photograph.

So quick! With deepest gratitude for all the photography pioneers who helped give us our current day phone cameras…

What are the last five pics you’ve taken with your phone (or camera)?

I’ll share first:

This was taken last week. I’m with sweet Sara Scott Camp, my “sister” from my college girl’s club. I haven’t seen Sara in over 30 years! I was about to get out of my car the other day to run into Starbucks, it was raining, when I turned and saw a couple racing to get into the car next to me. I waved for them to go first, and the next thing I know the woman is knocking on my window asking me, “Are you Tammy?” LOL! How Sara recognized me after all these years, I have no clue (but she looks just the same!). How wonderful it was to catch up with her again.

I love how God weaves us in and out of each others’ lives, don’t you?

Also taken last week… I’m with Deanie Graves at Belle Meade Plantation. Deanie coordinated an event for 150 ladies from the annual National Sweet Potato Convention and asked me to come speak. It was such fun! Great group of ladies. And getting to know Deanie better (after emailing back and forth several times) was a special treat. (Thanks again, Deanie! That sweet potato sampler platter was awesome!)

This one’s weird, I know. But we had some work done on the dormer windows and I wanted to show Joe the progress. : }

The other night Kels and I went to see a late showing of Into the Woods (enjoyed it!), and the 9:30PM showing was totally packed. NOT! Everyone else apparently had enough sense to be home in bed at that hour.

So tell me…

What are the last five pictures you’ve taken?
