Welcome to my website

I'm Tamera Alexander—novelist, wife, mom, sister, and most recently GramTam, among other more snarky titles. I live in Nashville with my husband Joe, and our kids and grand kids who live close by. I ADORE baking. It's how I recharge, and it's definitely a "comfort thing" for me. Right now my favorite thing to make? Homemade fried apple and peach pies, and if I could, friend, I’d invite you over for a pie and a chat!

We can connect and keep in touch on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Tamera Alexander is one of today's most popular writers of inspirational historical romance and contemporary women's fiction. She lives in Nashville, Tennessee with her husband, not far from the Southern mansions that serve as the backdrop for many of her critically-acclaimed novels.

I naturally gravitate toward gripping stories with characters who grab my heart and won’t let go, and I strive to write in that same fashion. My newest release is a dual timeline novel—A MILLION LITTLE CHOICES —that's about two women from different centuries living in the same house who share strikingly similar journeys.

Two women, separated by time, but drawn together in ways neither could have imagined through a 19th century mansion that connects them across time. A house that becomes a character in the story itself . . .

When a 19th Century Mansion Becomes a Character in a Novel

Have you ever walked into an historic home and felt a presence? Something that makes you shiver a little? Or makes you feel like you're being watched? I’m not talking about the house being haunted or something sinister. But rather you somehow sense, even feel, the vestiges of the lives of the people who lived in that home some one hundred and fifty years ago.

The 1850s antebellum mansion in A Million Little Choices is that kind of house, and the two women living in that house centuries apart share journeys that reach across time.
About the novel—
Claire Powell’s life is turned upside down when her beloved husband admits to a “near affair.” But when Stephen accepts a partnership with an Atlanta law firm without consulting her and buys a historic Southern home sight-unseen―it pushes their already-fractured marriage to the breaking point. Claire’s world spirals, and she soon finds herself in a marriage she no longer wants, in a house she never asked for. But when she suddenly comes face-to-face with the history of the home and learns what happened within those walls—in the very rooms where she now lives—she's forever changed.

So where did my love for history come from?

I trace it back to a trip my family took to Europe when I was nine years old. Eight family members were crammed into a VW Bug (I was in the back cubbyhole the entire trip—and loved every minute). I still remember the day we took a boat ride and toured a 12th century castle…
All these years later, I can still feel those cold, damp stone walls beneath my hand as we descended into the belly of that ancient castle. I was never the same. History became my favorite subject and while I never dreamed at that age that I’d ever write novels, God knew and was preparing me for when I would. He’s so good to do that, isn’t he? To prepare us for what lies ahead.

Thanks for reading, and I'd love to hear from you. Leave me a line or two in the comment box on this page OR send me an email here.

Gratefully,

Thanks, Sophie. Yes, they are. The only one I would encourage you to read first (since it's about a marriage of convenience and shows the growth of that marriage first in friendship then the physical—door still closed—relationshp), is TO WIN HER FAVOR. Still, I've had several moms of young teens write and tell me that their daughters read it and have a far better idea of what a God-centered marriage is, which is part of the motivation for writing that one. Blessings to you!

My mom took us out of school and we did the work while we were over there, then we presented a report when we got back. :)
