In 2020 she was inducted into the Christy Award Hall of Fame which recognizes authors for their legacy and contribution to Christian fiction. Her deeply drawn characters and thought-provoking plots have earned her devoted readers worldwide.

Tamera and her husband love living in Nashville, Tennessee, and treasure the time spent with their grown children and grandchildren. They live a short distance from the Southern mansions that serve as the backdrop for many of her critically-acclaimed novels. Tamera views her writing as a way to grow closer to the Lord Jesus Christ—and her deepest desire is that those who read her novels will take steps closer to Him as well.

(Tamera is pronounced like "camera" except with a T.)

"Every novel begins and ends with prayer—for the story God wants me to tell, and for the readers who will hold it in their hands."

Faith & Writing

Tamera views her writing as a way to grow closer to the Lord, and prays that readers will take a step closer to Him as well. Every novel begins with a faith question or struggle she's experienced in her own life—and she writes as a form of worship, for an Audience of One. As she says, "While I hope my readers are swept away into another time and place, that they grow to love the characters as much as I do, and experience all the emotions of the journey—the main thing is that when they come to the end of the novel, the name of Jesus is foremost in their minds."

Where She Writes

Behind the Stories

Tamera and her husband live near Nashville, Tennessee—within a short drive of Carnton Plantation in Franklin, Belle Meade Plantation, and Belmont Mansion. This proximity to the actual historic sites that inspired her novels is both a privilege and a responsibility. She treasures the opportunity to research these places, reflecting on who lived there and what their lives were like—and she still visits on occasion for the simple joy of walking where her characters walked.

Standing in the rooms where history unfolded—the upstairs bedroom at Carnton where a surgeon's blood still stains the wooden floors, the Grand Salon at Belmont where Adelicia Acklen hosted her lavish receptions and dinner parties, and the Old Harding Cabin at Belle Meade where Robert (Uncle Bob) Green lived for so many years—is, she says, one of the great gifts of her life as a writer.
