From Germany With Love

·by Tamera Alexander

Hello friends,

I’m writing a quick note on Monday morning from Schwäbisch Gmünd, Germany where we’re having a wonderful time on our book tour with Francke, our German publisher.

I’m with friends Lynn Austin and Elizabeth Musser and we’re spending our days laughing
hysterically while trying not to be too “American.” Essentially an impossible feat for us.

The first night on the book tour.

With Lynn and the lovely gals from Love Letter, a German Magazine with readers who adore romance.

With Christian Heinritz, the wonderful marketing executive with Francke who designed the German cover for The Inheritance. (Shhhh….but I actually like my German cover for this book far better than my American cover. Do you?)

Lynn needing an entire table just for her breakfast alone! ; ) The German food is delicious, especially the bread. My treadmill is going to majorly groan when I get home. My Spanx are already crying.

Toasting with “ice,” as Germans call ice cream. Delicious.

Gorgeous flowers in bloom.

Kelsey, my daughter, and I are loving the doors in Germany. They have such character. She’s taken tons of pictures which I’ll post on Facebook once I return. Internet (and time) and limited here. They keep us running with events, sometimes two per day. But we are LOVING every minute!

Kelsey and Lynn in Marburg. These two are getting into such trouble together.

One of the beautiful palaces we’ve visited while here. America really is such a young country!

Me with a sweet reader friend. I’m so grateful to Francke from translating my books into German. Being here and meeting with these readers is such a blessing.

One night we all got homemade booties as gifts! So nice!

BootieFriend

The sweet lady who made the booties for us.

Us with our lovely hosts in Hille, Germany and with Anne-Ruth (far right), the publisher at Francke. Anne-Ruth is fabulous. Such a gracious lady with a heart for publishing fiction that points other to Christ.

Adoring fan

Just another adoring fan (as our daughter Kelsey said as she snapped this picture of the sound tech during one of our presentations one evening, ROFLOL!) Hey, just keepin’ it real!

One night as several of us were chatting, we commented on how grateful we are that American-German relations are what they are today, instead of what they were some 75 years ago. At heart, we are all the same. God created each of us and instilled within us the desire to be loved by Him, to seek His face, and to share this incredible journey called life.

Have you ever been to Germany? Or to Europe? If yes, I’d love to hear about your trip. And also what food you enjoyed the most while there.

Blessings on your Tuesday, friends.
