Two weeks ago, I shared that HarperCollins and I filmed some video vignettes for the Carnton series on location at Carnton in Franklin, Tennessee. We had such fun!
Here’s the first of those videos!
I’ll share the other videos once they’re edited and ready—and would love to hear your thoughts on this one!
I love making these videos for several reasons. I enjoy sharing real history. And I also enjoy helping the location to “come alive” for readers who may not have had the opportunity to visit these settings for my novels.
HarperCollins and I also filmed six video vignettes for my Belle Meade novels.
Here’s the vignette about the old Harding Cabin, where Uncle Bob—a real person and also a character in the Belle Meade novels—lived for a portion of his life.
I never visit Belle Meade but what I don’t also visit that old cabin.
Does seeing images or videos of settings of novels you’ve read help you to better picture the locale and characters in your mind? Or do you prefer to let your imagination fill in all the blanks? : )
Thanks for sharing—or indulging <g>—my love of history. I never tire of walking in the footsteps of those who’ve gone before us and of learning from them.
Lastly, I’m headed to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho this week for our annual writers’ retreat—and I’m BEYOND EXCITED! I’ll be posting pics every day from our retreat on my Instagram account. So if we’re not connected there yet, let’s do that!
Here’s a picture from our retreat last year…

Be sure and share your thoughts on the first Carnton video!
Much love from Nashville,
Tammy
